Captain François RALLET, solo display pilot of the Mirage 2000, was awarded the "Best Solo Diplay Award" at Biggin Hill airshow. This trophy is full of symbol for him as during WWII, Biggin Hill has been the home base of N°340 squadron of the RAF. This squadron of french pilots was named "Groupe de Chasse Ile de France" by the FAFL and has been transfered to the French Air Force in 1945. It has later been renamed "Escadron de Chasse 02.005 Ile de France"... which is now the squadron in charge of the Mirage 2000 solo display.  The Mirage 2000 Solo Display team on a Spitfire in Biggin Hill, as a tribute to N°340 squadron. |
